During Marťana’s dialogue in a discussion with Dr. Blake, short for “OBE”; is incorrectly explained as “overcome by events.” In US government agencies, including those in the intelligence community and the Department of Defense, the correct/official explanation for the acronym “OBE” is “Overcome By Events”… The opening credits feature characters and scenes from the series interspersed with mirror-image panels. Former CIA Director of Counterintelligence James Jesus Angleton, also known as the “spy poet”, described the intelligence game as a “desert of mirrors,” a phrase taken from a poem by T.S. Eliot called Gerontion (the title in Greek means “old man” and the poem is an internal monologue about the opinions and impressions of an elderly man who describes Europe after World War I through the eyes of a man who lived most of his life in the 19th century). The Agency is a must-see for all fans of spy thrillers. First of all, the cast is absolutely incredible. The lead roles were played by Michael Fassbender, Jeffery Wright, Richard Gere and Katherine Waterston. This cast is reason enough to check it out, and it is a very good show. I would not be surprised to see this show and most of the cast nominated for some awards come back this season. The series is about an undercover CIA agent (Fassbender) who is ordered to leave his secret life behind and return to the field with his former lover (Waterston), with whom he is still in love. His love for her begins to interfere with his real life and mission. If you are a fan of spy thrillers or good mystery series, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.
